The 2009 Grand Prix
Tournaments will be held monthly in various locations throughout the Sioux Falls area.
Players compete in one section: K-5, with class prizes available for K-3.

Games are time controlled and rated by the United States Chess Federation. Official USCF game timers are used. Don’t forget to press the clock after making a move – overstepping the time limit means losing the game by forfeit!
Scorekeeping is not required but strongly encouraged. Official score sheets are provided.
Welcome to our February Event!
Where and when: Sunday, February 8, 12:30pm to 7:00pm at The Dragon’s Den (2517 S. Shirley Ave)
An Important Requirement: all players must have current United States Chess Federation Membership. Visit online at uschess.org to join for $23 (one year) or pay $25 at site. Remember, only a USCF membership makes one a tournament player. Join and play as many tournaments as you want. Members have their ratings calculated and posted online. Members also receive Chess Life for Kids magazine.
Entry Fee: $10 if sent in January, $15 thereafter. Make checks to Sioux Empire Chess Foundation.
All proceeds go toward awards, site lease and tournament report fees.
Registration: return the bottom portion to your chess teacher or mail to:

Enter on site for $5 more, but don’t be late - no registrations accepted after 12:45 PM on the day of the tournament.
Rounds: 1:00pm, 2:05pm, 3:10pm, 4:15pm, 5:20pm. No elimination – all players get to play five games.
Time Control: 30 minutes per player.
Awards are given to top three individual performers and top three school teams.
Pairings are made using official USCF approved computer software.
Ties are broken according to USCF rules (Cumulative Score).
Out of top places? Don’t despair. Look for special prizes to be awarded.
